Editorial Policy
This is the standard the content on this site is held to: where a claim has to come from, who is responsible for it, how it gets fixed when it's wrong, and the honest current answer to who, specifically, wrote and reviewed it.
The standard
A claim needs a primary source before it is published
Factual, regulatory, and code statements are checked against the primary document, not a secondary summary of it: the Oregon Residential Specialty Code itself for code requirements, Energy Trust of Oregon's own incentive sheet for rebate figures, NOAA/NWS climate normals for weather and rainfall, and the Oregon Construction Contractors Board or Washington L&I for licensing, bond, and insurance figures. Every source actually used on this site is catalogued in one file with its publisher, its document, and the date it was last checked, and pages cite it from there rather than restating a figure from memory.
Cost figures are labelled by what they actually are
Every price range on this site is a modelled editorial estimate, not a collected quote or a closed transaction. That is stated on every page that shows a price, not just here, and it is stated because it is currently true: Portland Crawlspace Pros has zero completed leads and zero onboarded contractors as of this review, so there is no real quote data to draw on yet. The full standard, including what would have to be true before a figure could be called an observed range instead, is at /cost/methodology/.
The site is not the contractor, and content does not imply otherwise
Portland Crawlspace Pros is a lead-matching and marketing service operated by H. Mae LLC. It does not hold an Oregon CCB license, does not perform crawlspace or foundation work, and no page - including this one - is written to suggest otherwise. Content about verifying a contractor's license, bond, or insurance is written for the reader to check the contractor doing the actual work, not to vouch for this site's own credentials.
An error gets corrected in place and recorded permanently
A factual, regulatory, pricing, or sourcing error that made it onto a published page is fixed on that page and logged - with the previous wording, the correction, the reason, and the source that settled it - in the public corrections ledger at /corrections/. Nothing is quietly edited out of a past mistake. Anyone can report a suspected error from that page's contact link, with or without a source of their own.
Review dates are real, not stamped on every rebuild
A page's "last reviewed" or "last checked" date changes when its content is actually re-verified against its sources, not automatically on every deploy. Where a figure is time-sensitive - Energy Trust incentives, code editions, bond and insurance minimums - the page names the date it was checked and, where one is set, the date it's next due for another look.
Where the rest of this is enforced
- The corrections ledger. Every factual, regulatory, pricing, and sourcing error this site has published and fixed, dated and permanent.
- Cost methodology. How every price range is built, what it excludes, and what would have to change before a range could be called observed rather than modelled.
- Verifying a contractor. How to check the CCB or L&I status of the contractor actually doing the work - including any contractor reached through this site.
- About this site. Who operates it, how it makes money, and the primary sources its guides are checked against.

Tell us which page and what you believe is wrong. A source is helpful but not required. If it's wrong, it gets fixed and logged in the corrections ledger with the date.
